Written in the Horizon
GOSO (Getting Out and Staying Out) is a NYC nonprofit dedicated to reducing recidivism through education, employment, and emotional well-being. Their annual gala is their largest fundraising event, and from 2024 through 2026, I led the visual identity from concept to execution.
The theme, "Written in the Horizon", came from reframing a familiar phrase, "Written in the stars," which implies destiny. But GOSO's participants aren't waiting on fate. They're actively writing new futures for themselves. The horizon became our symbol for that: something you are always choosing to move toward.
This year, the gala focused on Restorative Justice. The visual identity pairs a vibrant gradient with a system of circular illustrations inspired by restorative justice circles. These circles serve as both a visual and conceptual foundation, representing the processes at the heart of the work—growth, connection, and healing. The evolving circle illustrations create a dynamic system that reflects ongoing transformation, reinforcing that change is a continuous process.

The visual direction of warm, vibrant sunset tones bring optimism, but the identity is grounded by rough texture and expressive mark-making drawn from the visual language of the city.
The 2026 Gala, hosted at the New-York Historical, welcomes over 200 guests and raises over $500,000 in support of GOSO's programs.
