Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York
The Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York, Inc. (LASMNY) is a nonprofit law office serving Central New York, providing free civil legal services to individuals and families who need it most. Being that accessibility was part of their core mission, their website wasn't keeping up.
LASMNY's audience is often navigating a stressful situation and needs to find the right information quickly and without friction. That meant the site's structure needed to be clear and concise: categorized services, a straightforward eligibility screening flow, and a dedicated resource hub, covering brochures, FAQs, and videos. We also designed a new "Know Your Rights" section that puts useful information directly in users' hands. The site serves multiple audiences: people seeking legal help, prospective volunteers and pro bono attorneys, donors, and job seekers. The navigation was built to guide each of them without making the experience feel overwhelming for any one group.
